Warrior King - Music Artist Band Bio

Biography

Born Mark Anthony Dyer, 1979, Clarendon, Jamaica, West Indies. Dyer was raised by his mother who emphasized the importance of education and the natural oneness of the African family. This lesson stayed with him and shaped his songwriting style and subject matter. As a student of St. Andrew's Technical College he studied Human Rights and African Awareness, which inspired him to embark upon a mission to spread the word. He chose to do this as an uncompromising DJ who was clearly influenced by Bounty Killer. When he instigated his own DJ career, Dyer performed as Bounty Junior until he realised his aspirations were more suited to that of a singer. His early songs included "Tribal War", "Africa Shall Be Free", "Health And Strength", and "Boast Not Yourself", but his notoriety was assured with the release of "Virtuous Woman" and a new stage name, Warrior King. The single spent 13 weeks at the top of the Jamaican chart while establishing his name internationally particularly in the UK, USA and Trinidad. He followed the hit with "Never Go Where The Pagans Go" and "Empress So Divine". His position was assured with the combination hit, "What's Going On" with Jah Mali, as well as his solo songs "Oh Mama" and "Baby Don't Worry". He performed at all the major music events including Reggae Sumfest, Fully Loaded and at Sizzla's Birthday Bash. While Warrior King made the headlines for his many appearances, one particular show at the National Stadium in Grenada with Luciano earned him the respect from journalists and supporters alike. This acclaim resulted in his debut album being greeted with similar kudos and established him as a key player in a diminishing new breed of performers.
