Carl Barat
Born on 6th June 1978 Carl Barat is co-frontman of punk and garage rock revivialists The Libertines.
Carl was born in Basingstoke and he divided his youth between his father, who worked in an armaments factory, and his mother, who was part of the commune-dwelling counterculture, into CND and peace groups. Carl spent part of his childhood living with his mother on a commune in Somerset.
Around the time he met fellow libertine Pete Doherty, Carl was taking a drama degree at Brunel University in Uxbridge. Carl was somewhat disillusioned by his fellow drama students, although he did meet and get on well with a girl called Amy, who happened to be Peter's sister. Through Amy, Carl met Peter and The Libertines were formed.
More recently, numerous troubles involving crime and druge have forced The Libertines to split indefinetly and Carl is planning to begin a side-project.
