Hotchkiss School The Hotchkiss School is a private, coeductional preparatory school in Lakeville, Connecticut, USA. It was founded in 1891 by Maria Bissell Hotchkiss with the encouragement of President Timothy Dwight V of Yale. It is set in 545 acres (2 km²) of woodland and is in proximity to two lakes. Hotchkiss' 9 hole golf course was created by famed designer Seth Raynor. The 212,000 sq. ft. athletic center opened in 2002, while a 715 seat glass-enclosed performing arts center and music pavillion will open in Spring 2005. As of the start of the 2004-2005 school year Hotchkiss boasts 555 students, over 200 faculty and staff, and an endowment valued at more than $320 million.
